PKU!!??

Question

So my wife and I just left the doctor, he told us that one of the PKU numbers came back with something. He didn't give us any clarification. Just to call next Friday about it. Can someone please tell me what this means? 😖

Most of the time that sort of information means something is slightly out of whack. To the point where he knows there's probably nothing to it, but he still has to check it again to make sure. REALLY abnormal newborn screens would be checked out YESTERDAY. They don't mess around with it if they think somethings really wrong.

The important thing is pku is full treatable.

PKU tests for multiple disorders..mostly ones that show issues with digesting certain proteins or glucose. It could be very very minor or could be something that requires a special diet for life. I hope you get an answer soon. Good luck!
