STD/STI

So I've recently become very sexually active with my boyfriend. He's my only partner but he's had a few. He says he's been tested and he is clean so if we were to do it without a condom there'd be no way for me to get an infection/disease. But I assume that if our germs/bacteria/juices mix a lot we can create an infection between us? Can someone please explain, I'm worried.
