Anyone had a positive then seconds later it disappeared?

First response test had a very very faint pink positive line. Took a photo and then went to take another one and it had gone :-/ positive or not?

Happened to me today. I was due 6 days ago. I've been like clockwork since August (TTC and got off of BC at end of July) and I have PCOS. My head is killing me (dull, constant headache), nauseated ALL DAY LONG, indigestion ALL DAY LONG. Been really fatigued for the past week, but I have blamed it all on working too much and eating too late at night from working through lunch breaks (no time - too busy) and eating when I get home. But I feel like crap. Achy even. I studied chemistry in college and understand well how liquid chromatography works (the home HCg tests). 
**Science time- liquid chromatography works like this: there's a stream or river flowing. While regular chemicals found in your urine will flow through, the a leaf on top of the water. On the other hand the chemical it is designed to pick up is like stones in the water, meaning it's too "heavy" - in this case attracted to the sensitive area on the strip. As the stream flows - dye moves up the strip - things in the water (your urine) that can pass by and keep going, but stones can't and are stopped and stack up at the HCg sensitive area (the control strip and if you're pregnant, the test strip). This is why the dye keeps going up the strip even after the two line areas are passes up. 
Since I haven't started yet and haven't been having my regular pre-period symptoms: acne, hair grown on neck, etc. But I have been having heartburn, headaches, and insane fatigue. This morning I took a test with the first urine of the day. I was like "WTH why not, if it's negative, I'll know my ovary (the cystic one) is acting up again and that's why I missed." But after the elapsed time, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but I watched the faintest line pop up then disappear before my eyes. 
My mother is a nurse has worked in women's health and public health for 15+ years. She was staying at my house for Thanksgiving and I told her what happened this morning. She instructed me to wait a few days or up to a week, test again with at least 2 tests, but have a third near by just to confirm results. If nothing changes with my symptoms and after my results, to call my OB/GYN as soon as possible.

Not true. Positives can disappear even the company will tell you that. But if it only happens once, it's likely a faulty test. If you keep getting it, either wait a while and test again, use a higher quality test, or go get a blood test. The only way an Evap line shows is after the timeframe suggested by the test. And Evap line DO NOT go away. If you get a faint positive and it disappears it's usually that you used too much urine. Even if you did the right amount of seconds on the test.  Usually, if you get a faint line and end up not being pregnant after a while, you had a chemical pregnancy. About 70% of pregnancies are miscarried and usually chemical because the egg doesn't implant properly. In fact, 90% of women who miscarry that early don't even know they were pregnant. The only reason people know these numbers is because there have been extensive (accredited) long-term studies done in a controlled group. Also data has been collected from confirmed chemical pregnancies.

This has happened to me today, ive done 3 they came up vvf but not clear to see now. Test in a couple of days im due af on sunday so will wait til then. Baby dust 💕

Positives don't disappear. The urine and dye moving across the test can look like a line sometimes. If it fades away it's negative

This is why the directions say read after 3 mins. As the dye moves across the test, it highlights the indent.
