What do IUDs feel like

Question

I always thought they were interesting but I don't really know much about them. I'm referring to the ones that you get put in and they stay in for like 1-5 years without having to take it out on your period and put it back in (I think that's nuvaring but idk)
My mom told me when I was younger that she had something called a copper T put in and when they took it out it really hurt

Basically i wanna know about the different individual side effects people have had, what its like getting put in, if there were any complications in the time you had it, what its like getting taken out, and the name of it

it hurt after I got it put in, but no worse than the cramps I get with my period (my roommate has the same one as me and she said the same!). after a few days you have no pain at all, and I just had a checkup on it yesterday and it's great! I have had very short and light periods since getting it with very few PMS symptoms. my boyfriend said he felt the strings during sex for the first week or so, but they have curled up behind my cervix now. overall I would recommend an IUD TO ANYONE

Hey! I've just recently gotten Mirena inserted (today makes day 5 for me). 
I've never had a child, so my doctor warned me it might be uncomfortable to insert. It felt like menstrual cramps for the most part. The last little bit was a bit pinchy for me, because my doctor had to hold my cervix steady using a small tool to get the Mirena to go in. By the time I was about to tell her to quit because it was too uncomfortable, she said, "There we go, all done!" I did feel a little lightheaded and sweaty right after, but I sat up slowly and took a few minutes before standing. After I got done talking with my doctor, I walked to my car, ate a protein bar, drank some water; and drove home. I had some period-like cramps that night, and some light cramping the next day, but no discomfort since. I am still spotting (light pink/brown discharged) but all I need is pantyliners for that. 
On day three, I snapped at my husband for no real reason, and the cries because I felt bad about it. Aside from that little episode, I've felt great, which no mood swings. 
So far I'd really recommend talking to your doctor about it!

I had a horrible experience with mine, i had a really hard time with it getting put in, the pain was awful but after a day it's was ok, but then about a month later I found out I had an infection in the iud, I could always feel it scratching me, I also bleed for about 6 months straight until I decided to have it out, getting it out was no where near as painful as getting it in, barely felt anything, mines was bent too, but on the other hand my mum has had 2 and both she has had no problems with what so ever so maybe I'm just unlucky,
