Can anyone explain to me why the doctor says I'm five weeks pregnant if it was conceived 3 weeks ago??

Since it is difficult to always know when you conceived, doctors count your pregnancy from the first day of your last period.

I had an IUI and therefore know the exact date of conception which was 3 weeks ago, but I'm considered 5 weeks. They go based off of the LMP, therefore you basically skip the first two weeks of pregnancy.

OK I might be wrong but apparently they count ur pregnancy from the last first day of ur period not from the day u made the baby...no idea why but that's what my friend that just had a baby told me

Perhaps you conceived earlier and it's size suggests 5 weeks?
