Trigger shot tips?

Question

This is my second cycle with clomid and trigger shot. I am doing clomid CD 3-7 (I'm on cd5) now. And I am going for an ultrasound CD13 before the trigger shot. Any tips or advice to help increase my chances?

I was given the advice to buy the cheap pregnancy test strips and use those to "test out" the hcg from the trigger shot so if you get a positive,  you know it's not the shot.  I did that the first few times but after  2.5 years of ttc, I've learned to just wait it out until you get your period and if you're late, the shots are out of my body within 7 days so no chance of a false positive if I don't test early.
