Do you believe in upgrading your engagement ring as the years go by??

Just curious. I've seen many people upgraded their engagement rings as the years go by but I come from a traditional family and that's a big NO.

Hubs plans to upgrade my ring for our 5 year anniversary. We were young when we got married, couldn't afford much. I absolutely love my engagement & wedding rings, but my husband wants to get me my dream ring. I don't see anything wrong with upgrading.

Nope, I love my ring! Sure, some day we could afford something bigger or more gaudy but why? I love the sentimentality, and memories associated with this ring. For me, it's not so much about the size of the diamond as it is about the thought, love and memories.

For me, it's too sentimental. I would never upgrade. It's a beautiful ring and though it's not super flashy, it's what my husband picked out just for me. He cared enough to place his late mothers stone in the middle and melt her bands down to make the band. The only "upgrade" will be another band added to the top when our daughter comes. One ring for love. One for marriage. One for our baby carriage. Wouldn't have it any other way and someday, I hope to pass it on. There are more important abd more beautiful things than having the latest, in fashion, flashiest diamond. I've never seen a ring more beautiful and I never will.

I don't necessarily believe I. Buying a whole new ring set but after 20 some of year of marriage my Dad got a bigger diamond put in my moms ring. I thought that was sweet.

I love mine so much!!! But id love to get a new set on our 5 year anniversary because our wedding was so rushed. My engagement ring is pretty I love it but we didn't have much money so when we do I'll get another :-) hopefully I'll have a daughter and pass my original set to her

I never would. I think my ring is a symbol as to where we started out. My husband might also be hurt because he picked it out and is proud to see me wear it.  Plus I love my ring so there's no need.

My engagement ring means SO much to me and I love it because he 100% chose it and surprised me with it. Maybe getting another ring in later years would be cool, but would never part with my engagement ring to get a different one!

I wouldn't want my ring upgraded. I love it too much. However, I'm happy that my husband will be taking after his father in a tradition of buying a gift for birth of each of the children.
