Help with opk!

So I just recently started using opks to help me confirm my fertile window. But I'm really struggling. Maybe I should've spent the extra money and invested in the more expensive ones, but I got the cheapies that I have to look for 2 lines.

I'm having such a hard time detecting my surge! I've been consistently testing at the same time each day and nothing. The darkest line I've seen in pictured below. Is that considered a surge? Because the next day it was lighter than that. I think. I wish I would've taken a picture for comparison.

Anyhow, this will be my 3rd child yet I never needed to use these so I'm not sure if something is going on with me or if I should see my doctor to get some labs checked.

Maybe just try again next month with the smiley face tests? Are those much more reliable?
