Work out injuries

R

So back in November I dropped a weight on my foot and broke my toe. Couldn't wear shoes for awhile or do anything strenuous like ride the stationary bike at the gym so I stopped going. I haven't gone since...just wasting the money I'm paying for the gym. Since its healed I keep telling myself I'm going to go but never do. Now I have started thinking about all the minor injuries I was feeling when I would go. I always stretch before and after a workout. I have really crappy joints (knees, ankles wrists) and always have since I was a kid. I think I have arthritis in my hands and wrists as all the jobs I've had for 15 years have been a lot of manual or physical labor (kitchens, food retail, animal hospitals). I used to do kickboxing which I absolutely loved and was pretty good at until I hurt my wrist at work. I didn't really get back into it much because I'm afraid to be out of work again but I kick/punch the heavy bag at the gym every time for a quick cardio warm up. Anyway I guess my point is when I go to the gym I seem to hurt myself in various ways because of my crappy joints so I actually feel worse when im working out then now when I haven't been for awhile. Like seriously if I'm just trying to get up off the mat I can't put all my weight on one wrist or it will get strained that's how weak they are.

I know things like crossfit or spin classes are super popular now but I just simply can't do strenuous workouts like that.

I find yoga too slow and a lot of the positions involve a lot of pressure on your wrists so I'm not really wanting to do that.

Any suggestions for workouts that are less stressful and strenuous on your body?
