Early ultrasound??

Heather • wife & mommy of two
Okay so I went and got a confirmed pregnancy last week. They did blood work and everything. I haven't heard back yet to make sure everything is okay and they set up for me to come back and have an ultrasound plus full physical done at about 8 weeks. (My appointment is another 3 weeks away.) I had a miscarriage with my last pregnancy and I see a lot of couples on here go get their ultrasounds earlier than 8 weeks, especially if they've had previous complications-- so I was wondering if there was a way I could get an early one done as well? Do you think that's possible? I'm just so nervous and crampy feeling. I want to make sure everything is okay with the baby. Its placement and all. I'm calling tomorrow to ask the midwife but I wanted to get yalls opinion first. I'm officially 5 weeks and 2 days today.

8 weeks is a good time. Any earlier can cause more anxiety as sometimes you can't see. Unfortunately it won't change any outcome good or bad so waiting is better

I agree after my miscarriage all I wanted was to see my baby. I did at 6 weeks and luckily saw him but they tell you risk of miscarriage is still high. It dramatically drops st 8 weeks your risk. Good luck. My baby was fine that time I'm sure yours will be too

I had a miscarriage in November & now am pregnant again. I scheduled my confirmation appointment for 3/2 at which time I should be 8 weeks. But since I scheduled that appointment I've been feeling so anxious to get SOME kind of confirmation that things are going well so I called my NP & she said to come in this week for blood work so we can make sure my HCG levels are where they should be. I think you should do whatever will make you feel better. Anxiety isn't good for you or the baby, so take care of yourself & that little babe!

I had an ectopic in 2011 and a Mc last year so I get an us at 6 weeks and we are following my levels. Ask them to do a scan a 6 weeks.

Where you're just 5 weeks, it'll probably be hard to see anything right now if you did go ahead & get an ultrasound but I know it's hard to wait where you've already gone through one miscarriage. Best of luck to you.

I've had 2 blighted ovums, ttc for over 4,5 years. Got a + early this month my doc had me go for my first ultrasound (abdominal & transvaginal) at 5 weeks and 4 or 5 days. On the up side this time I seem to have a yolk sac & my gs is mesuring what it should be this time but we couldn't see much else. So going early doesn't show much and has not made me feel much better. I have to go back on the 29th, when I should be 7w and a few days, hopefully we see a heart beat, then i will feel better!Going too soon is not all that great because it still does not tell/show u much.

That I understand, especially after a loss. However for me it still did not give me peace of mind, a heartbeat will! Like my doc told me on Thursday be positive because whatever happends would happen regardless. So I'm/we cautiously optimistic. Good luck.

I just want to have a peace of mind that the baby is where it's supposed to be. I'm so impatient and anxious.

I personally would wait till your 8 week appointment. I got one early at 5 weeks and like 2 or 3 days because of a previous miscarriage and it honestly gave me more stress. So now I'm still waiting until my 8 and I wish I never would've done it and just waited it out.

Depends on the doc I think. It's my first pregnancy and I don't go til 8-9 weeks and that's for nurse visit and ultrasound, not even the dr lol. No bloodwork or anything early on.
