Water broke 40+3

Adina • I`m 24 with a 2 year old boy and another on the way. Married for 3 yrs.
My water broke this morning @ 7:00am. It's not 2:50pm n I'm still 4cm but I'm ferrying really frustrated bc they're trying to push having pitocin on me & epidural talking bout if they needed to perform an episotomy that I could get a local anesthetic but that I'd be in a great amount of pain & it would take a lot of the anesthetic to work. What do y'all think? I should've stuck w a midwife since I wanted to do this as natural as possible bc now they're forcing everything & im getting really stressed out as I'm siting on this birth ball trying to get my contractions moving. I kno the baby is at risk for infection but can I allow my body to do what it's made to do

Stand up for yourself and the birth you want!

Insist on the birth you want, but stay open minded, they are medically trained and know what's best for the health of the baby. But don't give in just because they want you to have an epidural. Your body can handle this, it was made for this.

They want women to birth in 12 hours. It's a business. You stand your ground, you have 24 hours before they need to talk induction because if infection. Walk, Bounce on the ball, climb stairs, stretch, try to relax. You're doing great just stay focused

Stressing will be no good for making progress. Our bodies know when its safe to labor or not. So, make a plan. We know its a fact that waiting too long after water breaking can lead to increased risk, so at "x" time if i havent progressed at least "x" far, we will augment labor with pitocin. Until then, breathe deeply, stay relaxed, position yourself in ways that will allow the baby to move down naturally and give your body time to do what it was made to do. Power to you, mama. Either way, you get to meet your baby soon!
