Smokers small baby?

Question

Anyone that has ever smoked and had a small baby? I used to smoke till 4/5months pregnant and now my baby is measuring 2weeks behind. And if you did have a small baby does he or she grow normal after born, or do they stay small?

It is very common to have smaller babies when exposed to cigarette smoke. The chemicals in the cigarettes affect the placenta which is what gives baby it's nutrients.
Good news though. Since you have quit your body is already healing itself and most likely so is your placenta. Good luck momma and don't try to stress too much.

I don't smoke but my sister is currently pregnant with her second and she smoked through her first. Jamie was born at 6 pounds, 7 ounces 3 weeks early on her own with no preexisting complications. She was jaundice and she had respiratory infections like crazy. They had her on breathing treatments and she couldn't be around cigarette smoke ( at this time she was a couple months old ) but she's grown out of it and has no issues. Shes 2 and a half now. She doesn't have any abnormalities and is growing wonderfully. She rides her bike with no training wheels and is completely potty trained. She speaks fluently and clearly.

My mom smoked while pregnant with me. I was born 7lbs. 6oz. I have circulatory issues, that I suspect are from being exposed to smoke in utero, but I have no way of knowing that for sure. I think any measurement within two weeks of your actual due date is normal, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Not me, but my mom smoked with both my brother and I, and we were both a healthy weight when we were born (I was over 8 pounds). However, this is just one example, and I definitely encourage you to continue not smoking. Quitting smoking is really hard. You should be proud!

Measuring 2 weeks behind it actually normal . You can either measure 2 weeks behind or two weeks ahead

I did. Thankfully I quit almost 6 yrs ago and feel better all around about not having a small baby. My dr also said that genetics plays a roll in the size also
