Copper IUD

Hey guys, I have been on 6 OCPs and the Nuva Ring, but am unfortunately REALLY sensitive to the hormones - to the point that I felt suicidal when I was on them.

I am looking at the Copper IUD, and my doctor works for family planning and says she has inserted them many times and recommends them. I was wondering if anyone could give me pros/cons of the copper IUD? I know it causes painful periods and heavy bleeding.
