In the same gestational sac??

Question

My twins are in the same gestational sac. Does that mean that they are identical twins? My dr said she doesn't know until genetic testing is done. Up until yesterday I knew nothing about twins.

It doesn't look like they are in the same sac. The circular "bubble" that is around each of them means they have their own sac. They do share a placenta, though. This means you have Mo/Di (two sacs one placenta). They are identical - congrats!

Ours look the exact same. US was at 9W, we are 12.5 now.

However some fraternal twins can be genetically identical, also fraternal twins (Di/Di) can appear to be Mo/Di as the placentas can join together. They can usually tell if the multiple pregnancy us noted early enough. Hope this helps a bit

Not true. The only way to tell they are identical is a dna test after birth unless it's a boy & a girl. Then you know they are fraternal.

Sorry I saw that no one else has responded.  I think that's what it means based on what I found out when I looked up fraternal twins...but there is also a "in between" definition where they're called mono-di.  I know Google can be scary, but may be helpful for just this question.  Good luck and congrats!!!
