Pitocin??

Question

Getting induced on Thursday and have heard some scary things about the contractions that come with pitocin. Any ladies have faced natural vs. pitocin contractions? If so, how are they different? Should I be scared?! Because I totally am! 😁

I would just like to say I was super afraid of the pitocin for the same reason. For me pitocin didn't even make my contractions strong enough to feel. It didn't progress my labor at all (nothing got me into labor until they broke my water). So everyone is different.

Dnt be scared it's not bad but den again everyone's body is different I was induced on 2/11 en I barely felt some of the contractions...I thought it was gonna be horrible but it was ok kinda short labor we started the pitocin at 5 am en I had baby at 12:15pm so everything was smooth

I was induced with my first Friday. Basically the pitocin makes your contractions faster and consistent from the beginning. Contractions were like a really really bad period cramp, but increased in sharpness too. I made it 2 hours before the epidural. Not because it was too painful but because I knew I was going to have one anyway so why fight it?

Was giving pitocin at 3 cm and 90% enfaced. Started low dosage at 11am (to make sure baby can handle it) and by 12pm I was 9cm dilated. By 12:55 I was 100% ready & baby boy was born an hour later. The contractions felt no difference to me, I could hardly feel when I was having them I had to ask the midwife when it was happening so I could push BUT what I felt was A LOT of pressure!

Was on it, had the baby within 5 hours got an epidural at 4 centimeters then didn't feel anything, here she is 14 days old

I had pitocin with my first and had NO problems. My contractions had slowed down after my water broke and to keep me going they gave me a low dose. So thankful for it, too. I only pushed for 20 minutes.

Had pitocin with my first delivery and no epidural. No pitocin and no epidural with second. The only difference to me was not getting as nice of a break in between contractions when I was on pitocin...but my labor was quicker, so that's a plus. Definitely doable both ways! Just remember every contraction is bringing you closer to seeing your baby. It's what our body was made to do! Trust the process and best of luck!

I had a really great experience with the pitocin. I was dilated to a 5 and not feeling anything. It wasn't until after they broke my water that I had to concentrate on breathing through the contractions. After they broke my water it only took two hours for my little guy to arrive.

I'll be completely honest and I'm sure everyone has a different experience but mine was absolutely TERRIBLE! My water broke at home and I had to go in immediately for antibiotics due to Group B Strep. I waited 10 hrs and contractions didn't start on their own so they had to give me pitocin to kick start them due to risk of infection. Within the first hr, contractions started but they were super strong and close together. They never built and subsided with a nice break in between. It was just constant, completely unbearable pain! I have a very high pain tolerance and I tried to cope and pull through but after 4 hrs, I finally broke down and asked for the epidural. The epidural only numb my left side but at least the pain was more manageable. Baby was born an hr later. Looking back, not sure if I could Hav pulled through that last hr or not but I wasn't sure how much longer I was going to be in labor for. Overall, it was a horrible experience. I would Hav preferred a natural labor but I didn't really Hav a choice. Next time, I will try for natural again but if given pitocin, I will immediately ask for the epidural so I don't Hav to experience that type of pain again.

When I went into labor they started me on pitocin because I wasn't having frequent contractions yet and my god they were PAINFUL !!!! Seriously the worst pain , I was dying to get some pain medicine and the epidural when it started kicking in and once I did I was in heaven lol .
