Do you think it's a must to know your SO's "number"?

My fiancé & I have been together for 6 years & get married in 7 months & have never had the "number" talk. He's 7 years older than me & I know he use to have a reputation when he was younger (he's 33 now) I know a handful of his ex's and he knows 1 of my ex's. Neither one of us have ever asked each other so he doesn't know my number & I don't know his. Do you think that's crazy not to know? Or I'm better off not knowing.....?
