Anyone familiar with the process and what it's like?

Hey, I have paragard! I got it inserted about 6 months ago. I went to my gyno and she placed an order. It took over a month to arrive (paragard said they were getting orders faster than they could produce). I made another appointment when they finally got it, they wanted to do it while I was on my period but I had just finished one so they prescribed me misoprostol to take one hour before the appointment. Also based on Internet research I took a hefty dose of ibuprofen right before. They had me do a pregnancy test. They measured my cervix which was a really weird/uncomfortable process. Actually inserting it was also not fun, but for me it wasn't painful at all. Then they gave me a card with my insertion and take out by dates and sent me on my way. I was back to work within a couple hours. 6 weeks later I had a follow up appointment to make sure everything was good and it was.

Had mine for 4 years love it. Made the decision at the doctors office and they had them in stock.
Couple of recommendations 
1 get it inserted while on your period because you're going to bleed anyway a little when they put it in (doc recommended this)
2 if you're afraid about a little discomfort pain, take a pain reliever before and after procedure.
The procedure 
They insert it via ultrasound and it takes a few minutes. Very safe very effective. There are strings that hang from your uterus/cervix that you may need to get trimmed later on after the procedure. 
Side affects
I can't do hormones so I chose the Paraguard. You may experiences few intense periods that are heavy but don't give up on it takes time for your body to adjust. If you can do hormones I recommend getting the mirena-sp? Lessens your periods actually.
