Blood test or urine test?

Question

What will they do if I go to see my doctor and tell them I've missed my period? Would they tell me to get a urine sample or take blood?

Answer

Neither in my case on my first visit but I'm in the UK, I had blood taken at my next appt at about 10 weeks.
