Swimming on period

Have you ever worn a tampon to go swimming obviously because you're your period? I know this sounds like a dumb question but iv been using tampons for 5 years & am still too paranoid to go swimming even while wearing one... Im afraid the water will fill it up & cause me to leak anyways..
