Should I continue to shop for my baby or wait?

First time parents and neither of us have a big huge family so we have been shopping for our baby our self & everyone is saying don't get anything because of the baby shower. But what if he doesn't get all the things he needs? Then some people are saying if we buy he'll have duplicates of everything. Here are some of the things we've gotten so far.

Usually you wait till baby shower then buy things you didnt get but need, in my family we have a baby shower then a diaper shower looks like youre pretty much set for baby, a diaper shower is where the guest bring all sizes of diapers its been 5 months and were just now needing to buy diapers lol but look like baby will have alot of clothes :) in the beginning they dont get super dirty but when they do extra clothes are awesome to have

Definitely stop lol you don't know how big or small the baby will be when he comes out so half those clothes may not even fit and it they don't yet then some could be the wrong season by the time he even gets to wear them and also newborn shoes are soooo pointless. Totally cute but babies usually hate them and they can hurt their feet as well.

After my shower I returned a lot of the stuff we didn't need or wasn't our style, most people don't follow or buy from your registry. Target and Babies R Us are super good at returns.
