This just happened to my friend and it's very sad. I didn't ask about details but I guess the umbilical cord got wrapped around the baby's neck and it was unpreventable. I'm super worried now.

It happens sometimes. But not because the cord gets wrapped around the baby's neck - baby doesn breathe until after they come out. Sometimes baby might have a problem with the cord, or placenta or something thoigh.

It's happened to a few of my friends too. It's heartbreaking. They've all gone on to have another child afterward as well

It really is shocking how often it happens. Our first baby I was pretty ignorant but after we lost our second baby and we became part of a community of other moms with losses, now I'm so insanely worried for this baby I tell my husband I'll relax when she's like five years old.
