We went to a nurse practitioner, the ER (because his fever spiked to 103.8!) and finally his actual Doctor, who managed to finally tell us what was really going on. The NP and the ER dr both said "Well the right ear is worse than the left" but never actually told us how bad... So his actual doctor took a look at his right ear, and the infection was so bad a cyst had developed on his ear drum. So she gave him another round of antibiotics that could make the cyst (and infection) go away, but the cyst could possibly still just hang out and it would need to be drained by an ear, nose, and throat doctor and there is a potential for hearing loss in that ear since its on his ear drum. Today we find out if the cyst has gone away or if it needs to be drained. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. My son gets bad ear infections but this is the worst it has ever gotten. 😔
