Breastfeeding

I am currently 5 weeks pregnant with baby #2! And I have made the decision not to breastfeed this one. I breastfed my son for 6 weeks, and it was hell the whole time. My nipples were constantly bleeding, I got mastitis in both breasts, it was all just a terrible experience. But I'm so scared of starting a baby out on formula. Have any of you mamas bottle fed from the beginning? Can you offer words of advice? People make me feel terrible for choosing to bottle feed.
