Does anyone have experience with adoption in NC? My wife and I have a baby from a friend who couldn't keep her. We went to a lawyer who basically screwed us over. She drew up papers but never sent us the notarized pages with the birth parents signatures. She also told us not to get the baby a social security number so that she wasn't attached to her mother. Now we can't get a social and neither can her biological mother. The SSA said that neither party had the appropriate documents to prove she lived past birth. We have her shot records. Her bio mom has her birth certificate. What do we do next?
