Concerned about my dog and future baby.
So we have spent over $19,000 on this dog. Not even kidding. We've had her since she was 4 months old and in that time she remained with her mother. She's a husky shepherd mix that we adopted from the humane society.
We have flown in specialist that were at a loss with her.
They can find nothing physically wrong with her, no diseases...
She is insanely hyper. I can (and have) had her run for 12 hours straight until I got concerned that she would hurt herself.
Her daddy and I follow strict schedules with her, feeding(only a special brand), sleeping, play, everything. (All ((after 2 years)) decided on by 3 vets, a physical therapist, and a high up dog traine).
It's insane. The last specialist we flew in said it might be nerological or psychological.
She will literally run until she coughs up blood.
Last week we had BIL, SIL, and their new baby come over. After she got used to them being over after a out 2 hours so we finally allowed her off her leash so she could go to the potty (it was that time to go)but as soon as we grabbed her potty coat, (it's to calm her down enough to actually go) she sped around the house (somewhat normal but she always avoids people and things)but this time she landed full blast on the baby and sat on him till OH picked her up off.
Baby boy was hurt and crying he had almost immediate bruises and blood from where her claws made contact.
I am at a complete loss at what to do.
Her daddy wants to give her up because she can't be trusted around babies... (a few similar occurrences have happened before, even with babies she has been around for a while...)
Being 8 months pregnant.... this sucks.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Has anyone been through something like this?
Anon because I know you all love animals and I'm afraid someone is going to think we are abusing her....
EDITTT: i am crying do hard now.
We have tried the dog form of Prozac and dog form of xanax and vet thought it was shutting down her liver. And we have a thunder vest that's what we use to calm her down long enough to go potty if it's on any longer than 10 minutes it starts loosing it's effectiveness.
