Progress before induction?

For those of you who have been induced... How much, if any, had you progressed on your own before your doctor would schedule an elective induction? Did your Dr tell you that you had to be dilated a certain amount first? Did your induction progress as planned or did you end up with a c section? And what number baby was this for you? Thanks!
