When do you start to have contraction?

Hi guys, I'm 33w and a first time mom and wondering when do you start having contraction? I hardly had cramps when I wasn't pregnant so I don't know much about contraction. Also if you have contraction then how soon you can go to labor?

Some women don't have any Braxton hicks or real contractions until labour begins. Others start as early as 17w (BH's). You can be in early labour for weeks, sometimes days sometimes hours, it's hard to say. But at my hospital they say time your contractions for 1 hour, if they are consistent in length and intervals for that hour then call up for them to assess and tell you what to do next, they go by 5 minutes apart at 50 seconds in length :) all hospitals are different your best of speaking to your doctor or hospital where your delivering

I was in slow labour for around a week before the big finale! 
Contractions on and off, especially at night. My partner would wake up and I'd be on all fours mooing like a cow!! 
I had the sweep at 40+4 and I was 4cm. Established labour didn't kick in till 40+6. Then things happened quick. I think I was in established labour for around 6hours.

I also didn't realise that labour had kicked in when it did as it felt like I needed the toilet 💩. Haha x
