Birth story!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY Lucy is here! She was 2 days overdue. We got to the hospital around 8:30pm on Monday (3/7/16) because I was convinced that my water broke (I soaked through 3 pairs of pants in an hour!!!!). They admitted me, tested the fluid, and concluded that it was NOT my water. Which was mind boggling (still is) because how could I have peed myself for so long and so much????
Anyway, I was almost 5cm dilated and they weren't sure if they were going to keep me, but then they checked my urine (my blood pressure had been a tad elevated) and there was protein in it. So, at 2am they broke my water and contractions started (without pitocin! Yay!) about half an hour later.
They started off okay. I used the yoga ball and it helped a little. But then they got bad and I jumped in the shower for about 2 hours (it just felt so good when the contractions hit). At this point, I had been up for 24 hours and was exhausted. I went in thinking that I wasn't going to get an epidural. But honestly I was so tired and so I decided to get one. And, honestly, it was the best thing ever. The only thing that hurt was that the anesthesiologist didn't stop while I was having contractions so being still was really hard. I got through it though and everything was smooth sailing for a couple of hours. I did need another dose of the epidural because I started feeling contractions again, but that was easy.
At 9am they checked me and I was fully dilated and ready to push! I started pushing at 9:30 and Lucy Rose Jones was born at 10:16am on Tuesday(3/8/16)!!! She weighed a whopping 8lbs 9oz and was 20inches long!!!!
All in all, my labor lasted for 8 hours (even though I was in the hospital for 6 hours before anything got started) and I pushed for 45 minutes. It was the hardest, most rewarding, thing that I have ever done. My husband, my mom, and my aunt were in the room with me and I couldn't have asked for a better support system.
I immediately got her on my chest and she nursed after, about, 20 minutes. I am still in disbelief. I can't believe the nine months are over. I can't believe I have my baby. I really thought I was going to be pregnant forever. Lol. We are all so in awe of her and so so sooo in love.
