Membrane sweep ?

I just left my 38+5 week appointment still only 1cm and after 2 and half weeks 😑 my dr did a membrane sweep hoping it could kick start things but did it would instantly for anyone I hope that pain I just went through was worth it and it kicks starts mt labor

My doctor won't do a membrane sweep since I'm only 2 cm dialated. you really want to be more dialated for those. You run the risk of your water breaking before your body is really ready to go into labor and with that, risk infection from your water being broken.

My baby was here 17 hours after my membrane sweep.  All of the nurses on the l&d floor were not happy with her because her "magic fingers" were sending everyone she saw and swept in.  Lol. I got the last available bed

It took about 24 hours after my sweep for my water to break with my first pregnancy. I just had one today and hoping things go about the same for this pregnancy!

I was just wondering this too!! Like I literally opened this app looking for some ideas about it lol! I had a last minute appt Monday and found out I was a fingertip dilated. Tomorrow I have my regular OB appt and hoping my cervix has dilated a bit more. Thinking maybe they will offer me the sweep. Not trying to rush her before her time as I'm only 38+1 right now, but have to have gallbladder removed shortly after birth, so I'm kinda hoping not to go past due! I have heard of some ppl needing multiple sweeps tho...
