Anyone take the harmony test?

How often false positives?
Got my results..came back positive for trisomy 21 (down syndrome)..and NT test came back high risk.. Fluid was 3.8. Uhg..I read that it's pretty accurate..but was just wondering about other experiences from the harmony test..

Even if the test is correct I just wanted to offer encouragement. No one wishes to have a special needs child but it takes a strong mama to raise one and you CAN do it if your baby does have Down Syndrome. Try not to stress (easier said than done I know) and try your best to enjoy your pregnancy and conquer it as it comes. Who knows, the baby could come and everything could be fine. I wish you the best of luck! I know it can be scary... I have to see maternal fetal genetics specialist for possible cystic fibrosis for my baby. Xoxo

While it is rare, a friend of mine had it done and it came back positive for spina bifida and her son does not have spina bifida. It is the pre screening, so talk to your doctor about additional tests. I read in Expecting Better (great book) that the false positive rate is only 0.3% for the blood tests - I think they all have different names but are essentially the same thing.

The much higher false positives would be with only the nuchal translucency scan and age factors.  The rate of false positives there varies a lot with age. The older you are the higher the chance of false positives.

I would talk to your doctor about additional screening options. If nothing else to prepare yourself and your family.

The tests are screeners - your doctor will likely recommend an amniocentesis or CVS if you want to know for sure. From what I've read, the rate of false positives is lower than any other screener - around .5%. Whatever anyone says, just make the best choice for you and your family!!

Just had mine and the brochure said 99 percent accurate. When I go back to my car I will take a picture of the stats in the brochure.

My doctor told me that 50 percent of the time, that those tests can give you false positives

The harmony tests are very accurate unfortunately and paired with your fluid measurement it sounds like the diagnoses is Down's sorry Hun :(

It's funny. I never did any of these tests with my other two 9 and 11 years ago. Ironic that we do them now to find out gender and get peace of mind.
