Can any one tell me what neural tube defects means?? Because I tend not to always remember to take the vitamins. (Not pregnant but TTC)

Set an alarm to take it. Neural tube defects range from spina bifida to anecephely/holoprosensephely. You can easily prevent by always taking your prenatals before TTC. Very important. Best of luck!

Honestly the most important time to take prenatals is before you get pregnant. Try to make it a habit!

There are lots of kinds of neural tube defects and lots of different causes. Basically it is a deformity of the brain, spinal cord, or both. Spina bifida is a common one, as is ancephaly. I was born with one called a Chiari Malformation, which is not as common, and after surgery in my early twenties am pretty healthy and expecting baby number two with no noticeable limitations.

Taking those vitamins just gives baby a healthier start...and they're good for you too. 😉

Spinal bifida I think I spelled it wrong. But that's one I know of and its very harmful and in some cases deadly to the baby.
