Third trimester ultrasound??

Question

Just curious if any of you are not having one? My last u/s was at 22 weeks (I'm 28 now) and everything came back good. This was a follow up u/s to my 20 week one since they spotted a focus in the abdomen that they wanted to get a better look at it and better picture of nose and mouth. Everything appeared to be okay in that one.

At my midwife appt yestersay she said that another u/s is not necessary unless their is area of concern about something. Is this the norm? I thought for sure I would have one more before baby is born.

I wouldn't be having one but I am measuring small so my doctor wants to make sure he is growing ok.

If your having a normal healthy pregnancy then a dating ultrasound early and one around the 18-22 weeks mark are the only only two you need

With my first pregnancy I had 2 ultra sounds in my third trimester. One ultra sound was to check if the baby was still growing I don't remember if I was missing a protein or something that can make my baby stop growing. The other ultrasound was because I started showing signs of preeclampsia and the doctor wanted to see how much amniotic fluid and check the growth of the baby: I ended up getting induced that day and had him the next. This pregnancy I'm getting another in third trimester to make sure I don't have low amniotic fluid again!
