Question about flying with American Airlines

Okay, so it says that i can bring a blanket. Can i bring a carry on, a personal item (such as a purse), AND a blanket? or would the blanket count as my personal item. I can't find a clear answer or mayve i'm overthinking it. Comment if you'd like. Thank you!
