Can sex on the first night lead to something serious?

I met this guy and we had sex the night we met. He seemed interested afterwards, and would visit me and take me out the following weeks. All of a sudden he stopped. 
Now I am talking to someone else, and we are holding off on sex until we are serious. Can sex really determine the faith of a relationship? Or does it depend on the person?

I honestly feel that it depends on the person.  My boyfriend and I did it on the first day together and a year later I'm pregnant and we have planned on getting married for months.

Yes I agrees it totally depends on the person. I had sex with my SO the first night and now we are pregnant with our second child and have been together 7 years in June!!

It genuinely just depends on the person.. I'd known my SO for 10 years (only as friends) and then we decided to see how things went and we had sex on the first night, nearly a year later I'm pregnant and we are happier than ever!☺️... Good luck with the guy x
