DR's apparently don't do blood tests now?!

Got a faint positive a few days ago, wanted to go to the Drs to confirm. The receptionist said they don't do blood tests to confirm anymore (I'm in the UK) as hpt's are so reliable these days?! Whaaaaat?! Anyone else had this??

My friend fell pregnant this month and asked them to check...they did so maybe ask. I know they don't do it as standard now x

I'm in the UK, they didn't do anything apart from tell me to take folic acid & they referred me to the midwife. I was a bit shocked they didn't do any tests as we had been TTC baby number 1 for 2 & 1/2 years. I am now recovering from my mc and waiting for AF to show so I can start TTC for my rainbow baby xx

There's literally no point... wait a few days and try another test. It takes about week to get blood results anyway. All about saving money in the NHS now that's all. I didn't get any tests either time. ☺

I'm also in the uk when I asked for a blood test from the doctor they told me they don't do them anymore either as it doesn't tell them anything I thought I was being fobbed off x

My doctor was useless. She didn't even do a pregnancy test when I went to see her, she just referred me to the midwife and said I'd get a booking appointment before my 12 week scan and told me to take folic acid lol.
