Each year hundreds of thousands of newborn male dairy calves (known as Bobby calves in the industry) are slaughtered as they cannot produce milk and so are considered useless. These calves are only bred to keep their mothers lactating. They are not allowed to drink their mothers milk as this is only harvested for the humans. Many of the females are also killed but some are kept and returned to the herd when they are older and will follow in their mothers footsteps of being constantly impregnated and having their babies stolen. Mother cows cry for days for their stolen and murdered calves. When the cow is exhausted from being constantly impregnated and milked and is no longer producing huge amounts of milk. She is sent to slaughter at a fraction of her age. This is how all dairy industries work all around the world.
