Birth control advice?

Kenzie

Hey, I'm just looking for a bit of advice on what to do here. I'm 16, in a two year long relationship, haven't gotten risky with my boyfriend or any other partners before. His mom, who I love to death, suggested that I get on birth control, given that I'm 16 and that's when she started it and she put her daughter on it when she was 16 even though she's never been in a relationship. Me and my boyfriend brought it up to my dad and he kinda got nervous and told me to talk to my mom about it, so today I asked and she shot me down immediately saying how "If you aren't having sex there's no need to go on birth control for precautionary matters." And "His mom shouldn't be telling YOU that you need to get on birth control, she should be telling him not to have sex."

Given we've been in a relationship for going on 2 years and he hasn't made a move on me that I haven't consented on & neither of us are going to be on the next episode of "16 and pregnant", I don't see why she would blow up on me like so.

Any advice on what I should do or say? I'm really lost and I feel awful about even asking my mom about it, thanks.
