The day my life changed
It was my 12 week scan with baby number 2 and I could tell by the look on the sonographers faces that something wasn't right after being referred to numerous hospitals and departments we found out that our little girl had a defect, called gastroschisis where the stomach doesn't close properly when developing allowing intestines and/or organs to start developing on the outside. Luckily with our little one it was just her large bowel but as she grew bigger and bigger her stomach was trying to close around the bowel, damaging it more and more every week. At 36 weeks I went into labour and after only 3 hours our gorgeous little girl was born but the madness had just begun! She was rushed to Great Ormond Street children's hospital where they operated on her to put the bowel back in, unfortunately a large amount of the bowel was too badly damaged to function and she now only has 1/4 of her large bowel and 3/4 of her colon left. We are still in Great Ormond street hospital now 6 months on but looking at her you wouldn't think anything was wrong! She's our brave little princess, she has been through hell and she has made all of us including herself much stronger! 🌹❤️
