Advise needed please!!

My first relationship. I really like him and I'm in love with the lad but sometimes he can be really chavvy/road and make no effort what so ever. I may sound shallow but do I really deserve that? Ps- he lives in joggers and makes very little effort at the moment, always blunt etc. I'm too scared of breaking up with him and not having anyone to talk to and the thought makes me feel sick. I don't know what to do. Help!!
