What was your experience with induction?

I'm looking at being induced between 37 and 38 weeks due to an IUGR. I wanted to know what your experience was.

Did they use the foley bulb? The balloon? Pitocin? How long did it take? Did you end up with a c-section? What pain meds did you use? Or did you not use any?

I went in 2 days earlier and they started me on cytotec then pitocin on the third morning to get my contractions started. I got the epidural. Was is active labor 2 hours and 20 minutes. Had my daughter in my arms about 6 hours after they started the pitocin. 😊

was induced on due date with pitocin... had an epidural.  Was having baby with no pain at all within an hour!! it was great!!

I've been induced twice the first time I only had pitocen. The second time I had like a pill they stuck up me to ripen my cervix it's a three corse pill but I only needed two because it started contracions even though I couldn't feel them. They came in to do the baloon thing only to find out I was already dilated to 5 so I didn't need it. I didn't feel contractions for a few hours after they started the pitocen and he was born about 5 hours of active labor. Easiest labor ever. I've never been not induced so I can't compare to going natural but I'd definitely get induced again. Neither time was as bad as I thought it'd be.

My sister got induced at 33 and 39 weeks with pitocin both and her first was pretty fast at only 4 hours but they had to use forceps to get her out and her second was 7 hours and not so great she was forced to get an epidural. If I have to be induced it will be a natural induction.

I had to have an induction at 4 days past my due date due to large baby and not wanting a c-section (can't remember the name of the induction medication. Was like a tampon inserted and can take up to 12 hours to dilate the cervix and start labor). Was in 9+ hours of active labor. No pain meds. My husband using counter pressure on my lower back throughout every minute of labor was what got me through it. Can't compare it to naturally going into labor but it was very painful (duh, right). Hopefully I'll get to experience going into labor naturally this time so I can compare the 2.

I was induced at 40+5 due to baby's size and high blood pressure. They started me with cervidil and that needed to be in for 12 hours. That only produced a 1 cm change, so then I got a pitocin IV that they slowly upped the dose of throughout the day. Since that also produced minimal dilation, I had my water broken. It didn't hurt but it was a never ending gush😂
My contractions were stronger after that, and I was only comfortable in a few positions, so I asked for Nubian. It allowed me to sleep for about 4 hours. They gave me an IV and also an injection directly in my arm so it would work faster. The injection burned pretty bad for a second, but it was amazing to get so much sleep. It also made me feel slightly drunk/loopy, which wore off when I woke up.

After the Nubian wore off and my contractions were pretty painful I got an epidural with an IV port in my spine. They numbed the area first and I honestly didn't think it was painful at all. They did have to come in once or twice to up my dosage because I was having pretty intense lower back pain.

Once I was dilated enough, I pushed for 3 hours, and my baby girl was born!

I'm sorry this was so long, but I hope this gives you an idea of what they may do for your induction.

I've been induced five times. My four singles were induced at 41 weeks and my twins were induced at 38 weeks. My first was 47 hours and the rest ranged between 18-24 hours. I had only pitocin with three of them. My first had cytotech, cervidil, and pitocin and my fifth induction had cervidil and pitocin. All ended in vaginal births.
