Soft markers for Down syndrome
Did anyone get told at or around your 20 week ultrasound that you had soft markers for Down syndrome? I got told I have 2: Pyelectasis and echogenic intracardia focus. One has to do with dilated kidneys and the other a calcium deposit on the heart. Given I'm 26 and was not high risk for a baby with DS I originally declined genetic testing. After being told about these 2 markers I feel like I need to know, so I had the Verifi blood test done It's 99% accurate at detecting DS.
The doctor didn't seemed too concerned, she said my baby had no skeletal signs of DS and everything else was normal and healthy. She said that many times these things show up, and resolve themselves within the 3rd trimester. I will love my baby no matter what, but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else and your baby turned out to be perfectly fine? BTW I'm having a boy. Thanks everyone!
