Panty liner or pad??

Okay so i have only had my period for 3 months (yay for getting through) so I know that your period will often be irregular when you first start out. My first two periods were almost exactly the same with timing soooo right now I should be getting my period if it was the same time as the last few months.  so I'm all prepared down there with a pad and I have been for the last few days butttt all thats "coming out" it some discharge and some brown stuff (old blood I guess) SO NOW FOR THE QUESTION so should I continue wearing a pad or should I wear a panty liner or will I just miss this period maybe??
