Where I live we are scheduled a regular OBGYN visit when we start our periods. They do a check for cists explain birth control and explain how to properly take care of yourself once you are becoming a woman. Once you start having sex you should see one yearly for a pap.

They have accurate information and won't disclose what you asked to your parents without your consent. I went when I was 17 (10 years ago) after getting a urinary tract infection (was still a virgin). My mom took me and was pretty cool about it. I asked lots of questions about sex and birth control and he gave me good information that I used later in life and to make better sex decisions while I was young.
