It’s always possible, but typically you ovulate mid cycle so 7 days before your period would likely be after ovulation

Depends on when you ovulate like the other person said. After ovulating you have 14-16 days of a phase in your cycle until your period starts. When a period is late it's because someone ovulated late, then had their fixed 14-16 day phase following (forgot the name of it). It's unlikely you'd get pregnant 7 days before unless you ovulated late- is my answer. If you confirm you've ovulated by checking your basal temp every morning or using a test you know you're safe till your period starts because you're only truly fertile 2-3 days out of your cycle, and even before that sperm can survive up to 5 days in fertile cervical fluid leading up to ovulation. If you're not ready to get pregnant use protection. If you're in a committed relationship and have a fairly predictable cycle, you can use FAM to predict when you're safest to have unprotected sex. Generally for me after my temp goes up following o Ustinov and I've confirmed it, I don't worry about pregnancy the week or so after. When your cervical fluid seems very dry rather than stretchy or creamy and it's like your saliva and dries up really fast- then you're the least fertile. The wetter and stretchier your cervical fluid is, the more fertile it is. Keep in mind any somewhat fertile cervical fluid is considered unsafe if you're avoiding pregnancy. So if you must have arc unprotected do it when you're dry during the day ( fluid is present but fries easily).
