Emergency Contraception

Me and my partner had a little accident recently and a condom split. To avoid the fact we simply cannot and do not have the resources to look after a little one I took plan b. I can't take normal hormonal contraception due to the intense mood swings I can get and low and behold I am so up and down at the moment I burst into tears at work and was sent home. How long does this take to where off? How am I meant to explain my crazy outburst at work?
