Perineal massage?

Is anyone doing this? I find it pretty uncomfortable not to mention basically impossible to do myself.. I am wondering if it's worth it?

My husband and I are doing it.  I hate it but I've heard it's worth it.  Definitely not fun if you are doing it right!!

I was planning on doing it...till I tried and realized it's basically impossible to do to yourself! Uterus crammed in ribs for 5-10 mins nope! There was no way! Lol I gave up bc I didn't want to ask hubby to help!

My husband does it for me. I hate it,  but it's a lot better than a healing tear after birth.

I had my husband try once and it was extremely uncomfortable (and actually kind of hurt), so we haven't done it yet again. I'm usually too tired anyway. I read that it's also possible that the massage could *toughen* up the muscle instead of loosen it. It's one of those things that you can't really know, cause all births and all women's bodies are different.

I tried and gave up after a week. It was way too uncomfortable. And I didn't want my partner to do it. I just gave birth and the nurse massaged me all throughout pushing. I only tore a little bit. Just a couple of stitches, not too bad

Haha... Yeah, pretty uncomfortable. I can't reach to do it correctly myself either, so my husband is doing it. It's supposed to help you get used to the pressures down there and may help stretch things out.

Nope couldn't get hubby to do it with DD and didn't bother to ask this time. However, while in labor w DD the Dr had me take my time pushing and I'm guessing he stretched me as we went. I didn't tear, rip or have to be cut and I hope I'm as lucky this time.
