What's gonna happen?

My 16 year old sister is 5 months pregnant, she's having a boy. She scheduled a 3D ultrasound and during the ultrasound, the doctor told her she has a pocket of blood on the placenta. Then the doctor scheduled her another ultrasound in 4 weeks to see if this golf ball size pocket of blood goes away on its own. The doctor told my sister if the pocket of blood is still there by next ultrasound, he's going to admit her to the hospital. Now my sister is crazy stressed out and half the time s ca red and upset that something bad will happen to the baby. I dont know what to say to her but I tried telling her the doctor is not going to induce her before 38 weeks.. Am I right?

Can someone please tell me what's going to happen so I can ease her mind? She's extreamly stressed out and its not at all good for the baby.

I'm really not sure what they will do, but it's very unlikely they will induce her at 5 months. They probably just want to admit her so they can monitor the situation. Sucky thing would be they would be keeping her until delivery most likely.

I'd say the best thing to do would be to have your sister call her ob & ask "hey its been really stressing me out and worrying me, why would I be admitted if the blood pocket doesn't go away? What will happen?" Dr's are there to answer questions ♡

They actually can induce her before 38 weeks but they won't do it unless the baby is super viable. Like 32 weeks and up to where it has about a 100% chance of survival. That's ONLY if inducing will benefit the baby more than staying in.

I don't know for sure but my guess would be to monitor her and make sure she's in bed rest. Also a baby has a good chance of survival starting at 23 weeks. If she's concerned I would call her doctor and ask him these questions so he can give you detailed answers and hopefully ease your minds. Best of luck!
