When water broke, did it happen with a contraction?

What causes it to happen is the pressure of the baby bearing down on your cervix. Once there's enough pressure, your water bag breaks.
You could be dilated at a two with no contractions and have your water break long as there's enough pressure to make it happen.

No, my water had to be broken at the hospital. I made the mistake of letting a Med student do it and 4 hours of contractions later the OB checks and goes "oh, he didn't get it all" I was just just laying there like, really? You couldn't have checked his work sooner?

With my first, I woke up at 37 + 4 & 4 am with strong cramp & then a gush. Had never felt a contraction b4 that moment.....now on my 5th I get so anxious with every contraction, that this might be the one. Made me wonder if water typically breaks during a contraction or just spontaneously.
