How much do I pump and dump??

Question

Im 8 days post partum... Considering indulging in my first glass of red wine tonight but need to know everything before i do. Is it safe or is it too soon for me to drink? How much do i need to pump and dump after? Ill prob have one full glass, possibly two lol

Don't pump and dump! A glass of wine isn't going to hurt your baby. My midwife actually recomends one now and then. Not enough alcohol passes through you milk from one glass, and baby has kidneys too.

Also, if you ever do pump to rid your milk of something.. Never dump! Put it in baby's bath! Save it for eye or ear infections. A few drops in my son's nose helped with stuffiness.

It is safe, no need to pump and dump. My lactation consultant said to stick to one glass and to drink right after a full feed.

Just feed right before you have a drink! Also a good ipa beer actually boosts milk production! I had heard this from friends, had one for my hubbys birthday and soaked thru 3 shirts that night!

Agreed. No need. Have a glass right after you nurse. Have another if you want. Unless they're giant glasses or you have extremely low tolerance (or baby eats more frequently than every 2 hours) you're fine to nurse when the time comes. Enjoy! I had a margarita on night two :-)

You don't need to pump and dump. If you want to drink more than one glass, they make test strips that test for alcohol in your breast milk.

Myth. They say that as soon as you jo longer feel tipsy than it is no longer in your
Blood stream and alcohol stays in milk as long as it stays in your bloodstream so once it's out of your bloodstream it's out of your milk and it's safe for baby to drink. They do say if you drink a beer or two to wait 3
Hours before Nirsing Bc it should be clear then
