Newborn question

So my baby is 16 days old and he HARDLY sleeps, cries whenever he is put down. It's exausting. I have a swing and everything I put him in it he cries and only wants to be held. The only time he allows me to put him down is when he's asleep. Is this normal? How long will it last? I can't do anything all day
